How's Your Election Hangover?
By Jim Babka

Was it good for you? Did the earth move?

Did anything change?

The major parties spent billions. The minor parties spent millions. Volunteers invested hundreds of thousands of hours. Was it worth it? Did anything change?

The campaign provoked anger and hatred -- high drama for low reasons. Now half the country feels devastated, while millions who voted for "winners" may feel like they won only a pyrrhic victory.

The election seemed so important while it was underway. We got caught up in the sports contest. But does it seem important now?

We think elections are theatre. They’re a modern American version of the Romans' bread and circuses. They’re the tail wagging the dog. That is, they distract us from what really matters.

We need to stop looking toward Washington, or the statehouse, or city hall. Instead . . .

We need to turn around and look at our neighbors.

There are more than 1,400 days between now and the next Presidential election. What if every day was an election day?

  • The precinct would be the mind of your neighbors.
  • The district would be the heart of your friends.
  • The battleground would be the conscience of your family and co-workers.

Because the individual mind is the fundamental unit of society.

We need to change how our neighbors, our friends, our family, and co-workers think. We need to get them to focus on the moral impact of their views.

Change their perspectives, and society itself will change.

This will happen as surely as night follows day.

Are you ready to be that kind of change agent?

If things go as planned (and they hardly ever do), we’ll be letting you test a new tool this Friday or Monday. You’ll be able to use this tool to change the American heart and mind.

But the real revolution must begin in your own mind. Are you ready to turn away from the political theatre and focus on what really matters? If you’re feeling hungover from the election, then this simple direction change could cure what ails you.
