You are a terror suspect
By Jim Babka

Does the so-called Patriot Act authorize sweeping collections of your phone calls?

A federal judge said yes. He ordered Verizon to hand over customer phone records to the NSA.

The court order is a short read.

Reports say other major carriers are under similar orders. Chances are...

ALL of them are.  And that raises a question...

Do you like being treated as a terror suspect for using a phone?

If you don’t, tell Congress to repeal the PATRIOT ACT.

The hardwired message says simply...

I want the Patriot Act repealed.

You may borrow from or copy these additional comments...

Congress passed the Patriot Act without reading it. Two Presidents abused it. Federal judges have enabled the abuse.

Meaning, the Patriot Act is proof of the failure and lawlessness of ALL THREE BRANCHES of the federal “government.”

The leaked court order forcing Verizon to give customer phone records to the NSA is just the latest outrage. EVERY phone company is probably under similar orders.

Glenn Greenwald reports (http://bit.ly/16L89yo) phone conversations themselves aren’t bugged, but for each call...

* the numbers of both parties
* the location data
* unique identifiers
* the time and duration

…are reported to the NSA.

In short, I am a terror suspect. As are ALL Americans.

This snooping is an “unreasonable search” in violation of the Fourth Amendment, because there is NO reason to suspect we’re all terrorists. With all the sarcasm I can muster, allow me to applaud Congressional oversight. You have been so thorough and efficient, that one can safely conclude you cowardly folks are scared of phantoms.

This program ALSO attacks the First Amendment. Knowing I’m being “watched,” I may be reluctant to make certain phone calls to certain people. Because it could change my behavior, the surveillance ITSELF attacks my freedom, EVEN IF the data is never used against me.

If you repealed the Patriot Act, this immoral assault on the Constitution and my freedom would end.

If you don’t, you must know...

YOU RULE WITHOUT MY CONSENT!

Since governing requires consent, and you’re busy undermining the tolerance of the American people, you must know your days of imposing tyranny are numbered.
